Verdict up front: three separate reviewers describe the same sequence. The first cash-out works. Every one after that returns “an error has occurred” — for weeks, with no reply from support. One of them adds a detail that matters: when the payout fails, you cannot play the game either.
Scratch Cash is published by Super Lucky Games. On the day we checked it showed 2.5 stars from 8,590 reviews and 1,000,000+ downloads, with ads. Google rates it Everyone 10+ with Gambling Themes.
That rating is the story before you read a word of it. A million installs and 2.5 stars means the people who stayed long enough to reach the payout came back and said so.
What it promises
From the store listing
“Win real money with our newest game, Scratch Cash… You will never need to pay anything. Just download this free game and play. The more you play the more you will win… Scratch Cash will always be free and we will never ask you to pay money to keep playing.”
Then, in the small print at the bottom of the same description: “*This game does not cost any real money. *Playing this game does not imply future success in ‘Real Money Gambling’.”
“Win real money” at the top; a gambling disclaimer at the bottom. The app is honest that it takes nothing from you. What it is less clear about is whether anything comes back.
Paid once, then an error for weeks

“This game does payout — when you can get it. I’ve had enough to cash out a couple times, but I have only been able to once. Anytime I try it says an error has occurred. It did this the first time I tried to cash out, but finally after a week it went through. But this time I’ve been trying a couple weeks. And when I try to contact customer support, the same error has occurred message appears. I rarely leave bad reviews but this game isn’t worth your time.”
The developer replied four days later:
“Hi! We are sorry to hear about your struggles. Even if you get an error message you should still receive the winnings into your PayPal account. Thank you for the feedback!”

“I have sent emails asking for help, only to receive no reply… Everything was going great until I went to cash my last payment card. The message I received says ‘Something went wrong while performing the payout. Request Payout Failed’. If you cannot cash out your prize card, then you also cannot play games.”
That second sentence is the part worth keeping. A failed payout does not just withhold the money — it freezes the account. The user is left holding a balance she cannot withdraw, inside an app she can no longer use, with no reply to her emails.
Two years later, unchanged

February 2023, July 2023, January 2025. Three reports, nearly two years apart, describing an identical mechanic: the early payouts clear, the later ones do not.
That ordering is worth dwelling on, because it is not what a broken payment system looks like. A broken system fails at random. This one fails after it has worked — which is precisely the point at which a user has decided the app is genuine and started spending real hours on it.

What to take from this one
- Judge a payout app on the second and third withdrawal, never the first.
- An error on the support form is not a coincidence. If you cannot reach a human, treat the balance as gone.
- “You should still receive it anyway” is not confirmation. Check the receiving account yourself, and screenshot it.
- A 2.5-star average on a million installs is a finished investigation. You do not need to run the experiment again.
If your payout keeps erroring
Check your PayPal or receiving account directly rather than trusting the app’s message, and screenshot both. Do not uninstall and reinstall to “fix” it — on these apps that is how balances are lost for good. Review which permissions the app holds over your PayPal account and revoke anything you do not recognise. Report the listing to Google Play using “Flag as inappropriate”, and report it at IC3.gov — reporting is free, and no legitimate service tells you to ignore a failure message.
