Look carefully at the address bar. Golden Investment Islamic lives at goldenlnvestment.com, with a lowercase letter l where the i in investment should be. It offers Malaysians a way to buy the top 30 shares on Bursa Malaysia “through a trusted local broker” from as little as RM100. On 22 October 2026 the Securities Commission Malaysia added it to its Investor Alert List.
Who actually regulates brokers in Malaysia
Bursa Malaysia runs the stock exchange. Brokers who deal in securities are licensed by the Securities Commission, which keeps a public register. The SC has now said the people behind this site are carrying on unlicensed dealing in securities and offering high returns. That is the opposite of what the website claims.
The Islamic label deserves a word too. Many investors look for Shariah compliant products in good faith. A genuine Islamic fund names its Shariah adviser and explains how it screens investments. This site says neither, and uses the label as a badge of trust.
Safer steps for Malaysian investors
- Search the SC Investor Alert List for any platform before you transfer.
- Type the domain letter by letter, never from a link someone sent you.
- Ask for the broker’s Capital Markets Services Licence number and check it on the SC register.
- Report any payment you made to your bank and to the SC.

A lookalike name for a lookalike broker
Swapping an i for an l is an old trick. In many fonts the two letters look almost the same, so a quick glance tells your brain you are on a site called golden investment. Legitimate firms do not choose domain names that are designed to be misread.
